To take on the Marquis de Sade is not a small matter and to adapt novels for the screen anymore. My opinion on that movie is shared. On one side its beneficaites of perfect photographs but on the other side I think it is a toned-down version of Sade's ideas. We must not forget that he moves libertinage, extreme fanstasms and sexual violence. He lauded violence until blood. Of course I am not saying that the director might have tortured actresses but more tension would have help to understand Sade's spirit. In this movie 3 innocent girls are initiated to flesh pleasure according to Sade's pervers methods.
