This movie is a free adaptation of a book by Oniroku Dan. It deals with a women unhappy sentimentally and sexually with her husband. This previous dancer was sold to yakuzas lead by a bedridden and perverse invalid to pay back her husband's debt. And she will tease the old man. But this is not opportunism. This movie has common points with the others movies of Takeshi Ishii. He wonders about the women conditon in a japan society eaten away by the machinism. Aya Sugimoto is a wonderful actress. Here she is confronted with perversions ans erotic tortures wich can be exciting or even disturbing. A version with 2 DVDs has released at Kubik (Asia edition) with a booklet and a documentary about erotic cinema in Japan.
This movie is entrancing, between dream and phantasmatic fascination, inside the extreme where everything is possible, even the unreal leads to revelation. I don't like any forms of violence but between sex, death and religion (japoneses obsessions) the art is the common point of culture, bodies and powers. And if there are the gestures of submission they are not those of surrenderings. The exercise of power is the only way to get the absolute desire. Defying many humiliations our dancer asserts her presence.
